We built BMS so it doesn't happen to you.
A few years ago, I started a small business. I had a product people wanted to buy, customers who paid me, and the kind of energy you only get when you're building something that's yours.
But I also had VAT returns I didn't understand, payslips I struggled to issue, expense receipts piling up in a shoebox, and a SARS compliance calendar I didn't even know existed until the penalty notices started arriving. Every accounting tool I looked at was either built for an enterprise I wasn't, or priced for an enterprise I couldn't afford.
I tried to do the admin myself, late at night, after the work that actually paid the bills was done. I made mistakes. I missed deadlines. I ended up owing SARS more than I could pay. Eventually, the admin closed my business - not the market, not the product, just the admin.
Then I learned that I wasn't unusual. 70% of South African SMEs fail in their first year. Most of them don't fail because they're bad at the business - they fail because they can't keep up with the paperwork that comes with running one.

Free business owners to build their businesses.
BMS exists to do the admin for you - quietly, accurately, and on a price that respects what a small SA business can actually afford. We make invoicing easy. We turn SARS deadlines into a calendar you don't have to remember. We turn bank statements into matched payments. And when you do need an accountant, we connect you to one who already knows your numbers.
We will never charge for the basics. We will always be hosted in South Africa. We will keep your data yours. And we'll keep listening - because the best version of BMS is the one shaped by the people who use it.
What we believe
Honest pricing
If you're not earning, you don't pay. When you do pay, you know exactly what you get. No upsell traps, no annual lock-ins, no surprise renewals.
South Africa first
We don't drop a global product onto Cape Town and hope it fits. SARS, POPIA, FICA, BBBEE - we treat them as features, not afterthoughts.
Less, but better
We say no to features that make us look impressive but don't help you. Every screen earns its place by saving you time on something real.
